Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF) is a chronic, progressive, and ultimately fatal lung disease characterized by the scarring of lung tissue. This scarring, or fibrosis, makes it difficult for the lungs to function properly and for oxygen to be absorbed into the bloodstream.
